Jennifer Barta

Jennifer Barta, CAWA, CVA has a diverse work experience in the animal welfare sector. Jennifer has held various positions at the Oregon Humane Society, starting from the "Second Chance"/Admissions Program Manager role in 2011, where they developed an animal transfer program and managed all aspects of animal intake. Jennifer then transitioned to the role of Volunteer Engagement Manager, responsible for leading and developing over 2,000 active volunteers and organizing large-scale events to foster community and engagement. In their subsequent role as Senior Manager of Volunteer Engagement & Humane Education, Jennifer dramatically increased active volunteers and implemented a leadership structure to boost donor engagement. Jennifer then became the Director of Volunteer Engagement & Crisis Response, leading the Volunteer Engagement and Humane Education Departments, as well as the Emergency Response Team. In this role, they developed an equity-driven, multi-year volunteer engagement strategy and successfully navigated a merger with another organization. Presently, Jennifer holds the position of Director of Learning & Development, where they have led the creation and implementation of comprehensive strategies to enhance organizational capabilities and performance, positively impacting over 300 staff members across multiple campuses. In addition to their work at the Oregon Humane Society, Jennifer has also gained experience as an owner of a vintage store and worked as a customer care representative and an art educator and coach.

Jennifer Barta, CAWA, CVA, holds a Bachelor of Arts/Fine Arts degree in Education, Business, and Biology from Greenville University, which they completed from 1996 to 1999. Before attending Greenville University, they studied Education at Moody Bible Institute from 1994 to 1996. Jennifer has also obtained additional certifications, including the Certification of Animal Welfare Advancement (CAWA) from The Association of Animal Welfare Advancement in 2020 and Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) from the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration in 2018. Jennifer has also received certifications in CPR/First Aid and AED, DART (Disaster Animal Rescue), Defensive Driving, EAS (OHS Emergency Animal Sheltering), FEMA Courses- IS-10, 11, 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800, and Pet First Aid.
