Emma Devereux

Emma Devereux has a diverse background in research and veterinary medicine. Currently serving as a Research Intern at the Organization for Tropical Studies since September 2015, Emma has developed strong skills in scientific inquiry and analysis. Prior experience includes working as a Student Assistant at the Duke University Goodson Law Library from January 2014 to May 2015 and as a Pre-Veterinary Intern at Triangle Veterinary Hospital from September 2011 to May 2015. Emma holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, attained between 2017 and 2021, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Evolutionary Anthropology from Duke University, completed in 2015. Education began at Lick-Wilmerding High School, graduating in 2011.

Organization for Tropical Studies

The Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) is a nonprofit consortium of over fifty universities, colleges, and research institutions from around the world. OTS was founded in 1963 with a mission “to provide leadership in education, research, and the responsible use of natural resources in the tropics.” To this end, OTS offers intensive field courses for undergraduates, graduate students, and natural resource professionals in tropical biology and related disciplines in Costa Rica and South Africa, facilitates research, participates in tropical forest conservation, maintains three biological stations in Costa Rica and conducts environmental education programs.
