Chris Mason

Chris Mason has been working in the field of cell and gene therapy since 1999, when they began their role as Professor of Cell & Gene Therapy at UCL. In 2010, they became a Trustee of the UK Stem Cell Foundation and the same year, they were appointed Chair of the Cell Therapy & Regenerative Medicine Advisory Committee at the BioIndustry Association. In 2005, they founded the London Regenerative Medicine Network and became its CEO, as well as taking on the role of Senior Scientific Adviser at Proteus, LLC. In 2012, they became a Trustee of The British Neurological Research Trust and in 2015, they founded and became Chief Scientific Officer of AVROBIO, as well as Founder and Director of the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and Science & Technology Committee at OriBiotech Ltd. In 2021, Chris Mason became Director of the Board of Directors at Alliance for Regenerative Medicine and Director of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Science and Technology Committee at Krystal Biotech, Inc.

Chris Mason has a diverse educational background. Chris holds a PhD in Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Research Fellowship from UCL, an Enterprise Fellowship from the Centre for Scientific Enterprise (Joint venture LBS/University College London), a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Distinction [MD] from King's College London [United Medical & Dental Schools of Guy's & St. Thomas's Hospitals (UMDS)], and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Clinical Sciences (Molecular Biology) from Imperial College London (St. Mary's Hospital Medical School/Royal Postgraduate Medical School). Additionally, they have obtained certifications from The Academy of Medical Sciences, The Royal College of Surgeons of England, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Royal Society of Biology, and General Medical Council.
