Chief Resident Engineer Railway Systems And Track at Oriental Consultants

John Leonard PMP® has extensive experience in the rail industry, with a focus on system integration and project management. John has held various roles in different companies, starting in 2008.

From 2008 to 2010, John worked at Rio Tinto as a Rail Project Manager, where they managed infrastructure projects and implemented rail enclosures and GPS vehicle locators.

In 2010, they joined Hyder Consulting as a Rail Integration Manager, where they played a key role in the bid proposal for the Al-Futtaim Carillion/Etihad Rail project.

From 2011 to 2012, John worked at Brookfield Rail as a Rail Systems Project Manager, overseeing a significant rail upgrade project and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.

John then joined Rio Tinto / URS as a Rail Systems Project Engineer in 2012, conducting site investigations and delivering specifications for a rail update project.

From 2012 to 2017, they worked at SYSTRA as a Resident Engineer and Project Manager, where they provided expertise in signaling and telecoms systems integration. John also identified and resolved performance issues and implemented corrective action plans.

In 2017, John joined SMEC as a System Interface Specialist, working on the Palembang LRT system and other rail projects.

John then worked at SYSTRA again from 2018 to 2019 as a Rail Systems Interface Specialist, focusing on rail systems integration.

Most recently, John worked at RINA as a System Integration Manager from 2019 to 2020, overseeing integration activities for a railway project.

In 2020, they joined Oriental Consultants as the Chief Resident Engineer for Railway Systems and Track, where they currently work.

John Leonard PMP® has a diverse education history with various degrees and certifications.

John obtained a Senior Professional Engineer degree in Railway Systems Engineering from The Institute of Engineers, Indonesia.

John completed a Masters degree in Management Information Technology from Charles Sturt University from 2001 to 2006.

John also earned an Advanced Diploma of Engineering in Systems Engineering from Skills Certified Australia in 2020.

John pursued Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Institute of Project Management, starting in 2008 and continuing until 2022.

In 2015, they received training in FIDIC Contracts Management & Administration from HRP/Saudi Council of Engineers.

In addition, John acquired a Certified Systems Engineer certification from Microsoft in 2001-2003, specializing in MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).

John studied Robotic/Automated Factory Systems Engineering at FAS Ireland from 1988 to 1994, focusing on Computer Aided Engineering.

John is also currently enrolled in the Institute of Project Management, studying PMP without a specified completion date.

Furthermore, they hold other certifications, including a Project Management Professional certificate from PMI obtained in June 2010 and a Professional Engineering Certificate from The Institute of Engineers Indonesia.
