Lead Engineer Automation And Digital Integration at Origin Energy

John Chidgey has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and automation. John has held various roles at different companies throughout their career. Most recently, they worked at Origin Energy as the Lead Engineer Automation and Digital Integration, where they were responsible for the architecture, roadmap, and strategy for integrating process control and business networks. Prior to that, they served as the BCCR Automation Systems Lead and Operational Technology Cyber Security Lead at Origin Energy.

Before their time at Origin Energy, John worked at Project Facilitation Pty Ltd as an Engineering Manager, where they provided design assistance and reviewed operational procedures. John also worked at KBR, Inc. as a Principal Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls Engineer, where they developed specifications for PLC, SCADA, and OIP components. Additionally, they worked at MPA Engineering as an Engineering Manager, where they managed various projects related to control systems engineering.

John's earlier work experience includes positions at Boeing Defence Australia, Nortel Networks, COM10 Pty Ltd, Dick Smith Electronics, and Stanwell Corporation Limited. Throughout their career, John has demonstrated their expertise in automation systems, control systems engineering, and cyber-security, among other areas.

John Chidgey obtained a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Co-op from CQUniversity, graduating in 1998. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued various certifications in their field. In 1995, they obtained an Unrestricted Amateur Radio Operator (AOCP) certification from The Wireless Institute of Australia. Ten years later, in 2005, they became a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) in the area of Electrical & ITEE through The Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland. In 2018, John obtained a Technical Authority L2 certification in Automation, Instrumentation, Controls, Alarm Management, and Communications from Origin Energy. Lastly, in 2019, they became a Chartered Professional Engineer (CP Eng) in Electrical & ITEE through Engineers Australia.
