Pat Mulroy

Pat Mulroy has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. They began their career at BT in 1992, where they worked on various projects related to video coding research and WAP portal development. They later joined PA Consulting in 2000 as a consultant, focusing on 3G mobile communications. During their time there, they were involved in IPR generation, software development, and received several patents in the field of UMTS and video application interface. In 2004, Pat joined BT as a Principal Researcher, where their main research activities revolved around video coding and streamed delivery of IPTV. They also acted as a consultant to BT Vision's content team. In 2009, Pat joined Divisoft as a Technical Director, where they worked on customizing open-source ERP software and provided VPN and voice services. They also implemented a VMWare server virtualization system. Most recently, Pat has been working at Ormazabal since 2010, first as a Senior Researcher and currently as the Principal Data Scientist at Ormazabal Analytics. In this role, they have led a team and focused on research into machine learning and big data techniques applied to electrical grid data analytics.

Pat Mulroy holds a PhD in Engineering from Dublin City University, which was obtained between 1995 and 1999. Prior to that, they obtained a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, between 1988 and 1992. In addition to their degrees, they also have certifications in Applied Data Science with Python from Coursera (obtained in 2023) and Introduction to DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering from edX (obtained in 2021).
