Dr. Ed Large has devoted more than 30 years to the study of how music entrains—or synchronizes—brain rhythms. A global thought leader in the psychology and neuroscience of music, Ed has pioneered an approach to understanding how music affects the brain, combining neural networks, nonlinear dynamics, and experimental psychology. Ed is on leave from directing the Music Dynamics Laboratory and the Theoretical Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of Connecticut, where he is professor and director in the departments of Psychological Sciences and Physics. Previously, Ed was a professor at the NIH-funded Center for Complex Systems and Brain Sciences at Florida Atlantic University. His research is published in Journal of Neuroscience, Psychological Review, Physica D, Music Perception, and others. He holds several US and international patents.
