Yong-Gang Cao

Yong-Gang Cao is a machine learning engineer with experience in various companies and research institutions. Yong-Gang started their career as a research assistant at Beihang University, where they conducted research on software architecture, information retrieval, and text mining. Yong-Gang also served as a technology leader during their time at the university.

Yong-Gang then worked as a research associate at the University of Wisconsin, focusing on question-answering systems and information extraction in the medical domain. Following that, they interned as a research intern at Microsoft Research Asia, where they conducted research on text extraction and clustering.

Yong-Gang also has experience as an SDE intern at Nokia and later joined Microsoft Research Asia as an associate researcher.

Yong-Gang then transitioned to the industry, working as an SDE at Amazon where they created a distributed brand clustering system and built and maintained large-scale systems for catalog quality across different Amazon marketplaces.

After their time at Amazon, they worked at Expedia, Inc. as an SDE, where they worked on cleaning the gateway for hotel and booking data and enabled debugging for J2EE app.

Subsequently, they joined Amazon again, this time as a machine learning scientist and SDE, focusing on scaling entity recognition and auto clustering category nodes together for semantic scope definition and dimension reduction.

Yong-Gang then joined Sift Science as a software engineer, where they contributed to fighting frauds at scale and building trust using machine learning. Yong-Gang migrated logics and developed new systems using Spark for handling large-scale data.

Currently, Yong-Gang is a machine learning engineer at Outreach, where they are involved in building systems to enhance salespeople's communication with relevant audiences using Go Language, Kubernetes, and tackling NLP problems with cutting-edge algorithms.

Yong-Gang Cao completed their Bachelor's degree from Beihang University in the field of study that is unknown. Yong-Gang then pursued their higher education at Beihang University where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science. The completion of their Ph.D. occurred between 2000 and 2006.
