Katie Newsom

ward Bound School (POBS), Katie stepped into a new role to guide, strengthen and expand the philanthropic position of Outward Bound USA. During her tenure at POBS, Katie led the School’s growth from serving 100 students a year in 1999 to serving over 5,000 students in 2017, establishing strong educational partnerships with the School District of Philadelphia as well as many other youth-serving and community organizations. Her final achievement at POBS was the completion of a multi-year capital and endowment campaign in partnership with Audubon Pennsylvania raising over $18M to build and endow operations at The Discovery Center, a permanent home for POBS and an education center for Audubon.

Katie holds a master’s in organizational development and leadership, as well as continuing education certificates in fund development, non-profit management, and leadership. An avid learner, Katie has completed Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management course, Wharton’s Women in Leadership course, and has lectured at the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
