Zhong Z.

Zhong Z. has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Their most recent role is as the Chief Scientific Officer at Ovid Therapeutics since May 2023. Prior to this, they served as the SVP of DNA Science at Generation Bio from September 2019 to November 2022. Zhong also held the position of VP of Biology at WAVE Life Sciences Ltd. from May 2016 to September 2019. They were an Advisor and Acting CSO at Stem Cell Theranostics from November 2015 to May 2016. Before that, Zhong worked at Vertex Pharmaceuticals as the VP of External Research and GM China from January 2014 to November 2015. Their prior experience includes being the Head of Discovery Technologies in the Regenerative Medicine Discovery and NeuroInflammation DPU at GSK from February 2008 to January 2014, and the Director of R&D at Invitrogen from December 2006 to February 2008. Zhong also served as the Vice President of Drug Discovery Technologies at Cell & Molecular Technologies, Inc (acquired by Invitrogen in 2006) from February 2001 to December 2006. Their career in the industry began as a Sr Scientist at J&J Pharma R&D, where they worked from an unknown start date to 2001.

Zhong Z. has a solid education history that spans over several years. In 1986, they attended Fudan University, where they studied Bioengineering. Following this, Zhong Z. pursued a PhD in Cell Biology at The Rockefeller University, starting in 1990 and completing their degree in 1995. Subsequently, from 1995 to 1997, they engaged in further academic pursuits, undertaking a PostDoc in Neuroscience at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
