James Whalley

James Whalley is a Senior Software Engineer at Oxa since October 2021, leading a development stream within the Tracking team and focusing on real-time C++ algorithms to improve object tracking in autonomy systems. Previously, James held the position of Software Technical Lead at GeoSLAM from June 2018 to October 2021, where responsibilities included mentoring and training junior engineers in software development and SLAM fundamentals. James also contributed as a Software Engineer at GeoSLAM, engaging in C++ algorithm development for user-facing features, and had an earlier role as a Software Developer at the same company, where documentation and statistical analysis of algorithms were key tasks. Additionally, a brief tenure as a Teaching Intern at Archbishop Ilsley Catholic Technology College involved teaching secondary level Physics. James holds a Master’s Degree in Physics with Theoretical Physics from the University of Nottingham, completed in 2018.
