Sergey Aganezov has a diverse work experience in the field of genomics and bioinformatics. Sergey started their career at The George Washington University as a Graduate Research Assistant and later became a Recitation course instructor at The George Washington University Columbian College of Arts & Sciences. Sergey then worked as a JetBrains Campus Ambassador, promoting software and scientific programming productivity among students. Moving forward, Sergey worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University before joining Invitae as a Bioinformatics Scientist. Sergey later joined Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, specializing in the analysis of structural variants and karyotype reconstruction in cancer genomes. Currently, Sergey holds the position of a Genomic Applications Scientist and a Senior Genomic Applications Scientist at Oxford Nanopore Technologies.
Sergey Aganezov completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics and Computer Science from The George Washington University from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Master's Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from ITMO University from 2013 to 2015. Sergey started their educational journey at ITMO University where they earned their Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from 2009 to 2013.
