Samy Madbouly is a highly experienced Materials Scientist with a diverse academic and professional background in polymer and composite materials. Currently serving in a joint appointment at Washington State University and as a Materials Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Samy focuses on lightweight polymer composites for automotive and aerospace applications, hydrogen storage, and biodegradable polymers for biomedical uses. Previous roles include Assistant Professor at Penn State University and Senior Polymer Engineer at Schlumberger, where advancements in elastomers and thermal conductivity were achieved. Additional experience includes research positions at Iowa State University, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, and various institutions emphasizing biodegradable materials and processing techniques. Samy holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Cairo University, along with a PhD from Tokyo Institute of Technology, specializing in Polymer/Plastics Engineering.
