Charles Garrett

Charles Garrett has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering and management. Charles started their career as a Software Developer at BlackBerry, where they engineered solutions for mobile and web-based applications. Charles also played a key role in the development and implementation of test automation.

Later, Charles worked at Nuance Communications as a Senior Java Web Engineer, facilitating the design and development of web applications and collaborating with back-end engineers. Charles also led a software development team and provided technical leadership for customer engagements, helping to win revenue-generating automotive customers and partners.

Charles then joined Seismic, where they held several roles including Senior Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering. Charles managed cross-functional development teams and defined engineering organizational goals for various products and platforms. Charles spearheaded initiatives to improve platform observability, streamlined onboarding processes, and implemented rituals for iterative development and burn-out management.

Currently, Charles is working as an Engineering Manager at Pagoda, where they lead the engineering team.

Charles Garrett has an educational background in the fields of Human Centered Design and Engineering, as well as Computer Science. From 2009 to 2011, they studied at the University of Washington and obtained a Master's degree in Human Centered Design and Engineering. Prior to that, they attended Seattle University from 2004 to 2007 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Charles Garrett has obtained a certification as a Section4 Certified Brand Strategist from Section4, which they acquired in October 2021.
