Brandon Rothrock

Director, AI Scientist at Paige

Brandon Rothrock is the current Director of AI Scientists at Paige. Brandon has extensive experience in the field, having worked as a Research Technologist and Perception Systems Group Lead at JPL (NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory) from April 2014 to September 2019. There, they worked on large-scale terrain analysis for traversability, safety, and navigation to support landing site selection and terrain-relative navigation of the M2020 mission, and various research projects to support advanced rover autonomy. Other research projects include automated science, perception for navigation in complex terrain, perception for coordinated behaviors around humans, global localization, and perception for obstacle avoidance in micro-air vehicles.

Before their work at JPL, Brandon was a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCLA from July 2013 to April 2014. Prior to that, they were a Research Associate at Carnegie Mellon University from January 2005 to December 2007. Brandon started their career as a software engineer, working as Lead Software Engineer at Software Labs from January 2003 to December 2005, and then at Hewlett-Packard from January 2000 to December 2003.

Brandon Rothrock received their Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to that, they received their Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles and their Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Washington.

They are on a team with Jillian Sue - Director, Product, Razik Yousfi - VP of Engineering, and Juan Retamero - Medical Director. Brandon Rothrock reports to Andy Moye, Chief Executive Officer.
