Location: Can be fully remote (based anywhere in the United States), but New-York based (where we have a hybrid office setup) is a plus

Reports to: VP of Finance

Base Salary Range: $100k-$130K 

About this role

Parallel is seeking an Accounting Manager; in this role, you will play a key role in setting up an in-house Accounting function, building and improving internal processes. The ideal candidate has prior experience working in an early stage start-up, is a critical thinker, possesses excellent analytical skills, and has a deep understanding of accounting and finance. This role is ideal for someone who is willing to learn and grow with a mission-oriented company.

What you’ll do: 

  • Monthly Close and Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or issues. 
  • Customer Billing: Oversee all aspects of customer billings and collections. Collaborate with customer success and provider pay teams to ensure accurate customer billing.
  • Expense and Cash Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity by monitoring accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash balances. Partner with Strategic Finance to monitor expense budget and review variances versus plan. 
  • Team Development: Grow and manage an offshore accounting team to drive process improvements and cost efficiencies.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Contribute to financially oriented projects such as fundraising and M&A by collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business goals.

What you need: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field (CPA certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence decision-making.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Role is remote, but candidates interested in a hybrid setup in our NYC office is a plus
