Dale Butler

Emergency General Surgery Medical Director at Parkland Health

Dale Butler is an experienced medical professional with a diverse background. Dale currently holds the position of Emergency General Surgery Medical Director at Parkland Health. Prior to this, they served as an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dale also gained valuable experience as a Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care Fellow at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dale's career includes military service as a General Surgeon in the US Navy, where they worked as a Trauma Surgeon and held the position of Department Head of General Surgery at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. Dale began their medical training as a General Surgery Resident at UT Southwestern Medical Center and started their professional journey as a Peace Corps Volunteer.

Dale Butler completed a Fellowship in Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 2021 to 2022. Prior to that, in 2019 to 2020, Dale earned an Executive MBA in Strategy and Leadership from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. From 2012 to 2017, Dale pursued a General Surgery Residency Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center. In 2008 to 2012, Dale obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dale's undergraduate education was in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from The University of Texas at Austin from 2001 to 2005. Dale also holds board certifications in both Surgical Critical Care and General Surgery from the American Board of Surgery.
