Robert Zhu has a diverse work experience in various political and media roles. Robert started their career in 2016 with the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, working in the office of Member of Provincial Parliament Han Dong until 2018. During this time, they also served as campaign staff for Han Dong's Ontario Liberal Party candidacy for Spadina-Fort York in 2018. In 2017, they worked in the Ontario Government's Office of the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. In the same year, they also had a brief role as campaign staff for Zuhair Syed's bid for Toronto City Council.
In 2018, Robert Zhu joined Tencent Sports as an NHL Reporter before transitioning to political roles. Starting in 2019, they worked for the Liberal Party of Canada, serving as an Outreach Advisor for the 2019 and 2021 Federal Elections. Within the party, they held various positions such as Special Assistant, Advisor, and Manager of Outreach in the Liberal Research Bureau. Robert currently holds the position of Director of Outreach, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Liberal Research Bureau at the Parliament of Canada, which they began in February 2022.
Robert Zhu has a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Political Science from the University of Toronto. Robert also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Film Studies from the same university. Prior to their university education, they obtained an International Baccalaureate Diploma from the International Baccalaureate program. Robert also holds an Ontario Secondary School Diploma from Ridley College.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Robert Zhu has obtained certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge. Robert is a Conflict Resolution Officer certified by the Government of Canada, obtained in September 2022. Robert also holds a certification in Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+), obtained in May 2020, also from the Government of Canada.
