Coleman Brumley has a long and varied work experience. Coleman began their career in 1994 as a Software Developer for the Office of Admissions and Records at West Virginia University, where they worked on porting the student system from VAX/VMS to UNIX (HP-UX) and managed the ARC network. In 1998, they moved to WESCO Distribution as a Systems Analyst, developing a custom source code control system and working on various financial systems modules. In 2000, they began working as a Senior Software Developer for American Auto-Matrix, developing building automation control interfaces. In 2005, they joined PolarSoft, Inc. as a Senior Software Developer, developing building automation software for off the shelf software products and turn key projects for customers. Also in 2005, they became a Voting Member of the ASHRAE SSPC-135, reviewing and recommending revisions to the ANSI/ASHRAE 135 (BACnet) and 135.1 (BACnet Tests) standards for publication and publication public review. In 2018, they joined Setra Systems as a Principal IoT Architect, Software Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Supervisor, and Senior Software Engineer. Finally, in 2022, Coleman began working as a Principal Software Engineer for PassiveLogic, developing protocol I/O for the PassiveLogic Building Automation System, including BACnet, Modbus, KNX, and other IoT protocols.
Coleman Brumley attended Penn State University from 1990 to 1992, where they earned an Associate's Degree in Business Administration. Coleman then attended West Virginia University from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
