Patrick Schwientek

Patrick Schwientek has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics. Patrick is currently working as the VP of Biology at Pattern Ag, a position they started in May 2023. Before that, they worked at Nautilus Biotechnology as a Senior Principal Scientist and Team Lead in Bioinformatics from October 2022 to May 2023, and as a Principal Scientist and Team Lead in Bioinformatics from October 2021 to October 2022.

Prior to their time at Nautilus Biotechnology, Patrick co-founded and served as the CTO of Oralta, a role they held from June 2018 to October 2021. Patrick also worked at Bayer Crop Science, where they held various roles including Principal Scientist and Team Lead in Bioinformatics from August 2015 to July 2018, Senior Scientist in Bioinformatics from September 2014 to September 2015, and Scientist II in Bioinformatics from October 2013 to September 2014.

Patrick's career in bioinformatics started at the Joint Genome Institute, where they worked as a Scientist in Bioinformatics from August 2013 to October 2013, and as a PostDoc in Bioinformatics from April 2012 to August 2013.

Patrick Schwientek earned their Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics and Genome Research from Bielefeld University in 2006. Patrick then went on to complete a Master's Degree in Genome Based Systems Biology at the same institution from 2006 to 2008. Patrick further pursued their education at Bielefeld University, completing their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Genome Research of Industrial Microorganisms from 2009 to 2012.
