Lila Jaafar

Director Of Strategic Partnerships & Intergovernmental Affairs at Peace Corps

Lila Jaafar has extensive work experience, starting in 2001 as a Gender Development Intern at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). Lila then worked as a Graduate Assistant at the Lebanese American University until 2003. From 2003 to 2004, they served as an Executive Assistant at the Arab Center for the Rule of Law and Integrity. Lila then joined the UNDP as a Researcher for a few months before moving on to the National Democratic Institute (NDI). At NDI, they held various positions, including Program Assistant, Senior Program Assistant, Program Officer, Senior Program Officer, Program Manager, and Senior Program Manager from 2004 to 2018. In 2014, they briefly worked as an Absentee Ballot Chase Director at Granite State Forward. Lila also worked at the Maryland Victory '06 as a Deputy GOTV Director in 2006. Lila joined the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2012 as a Surrogate Coordinator. From 2018 to 2021, Lila worked at the Democratic National Committee, first as the Northeast Political & Organizing Director, then as the Battleground States Political Director, and finally as the Chief of Staff - Political & Organizing. Currently, they are employed at the Peace Corps as the White House Liaison and has recently transitioned to the role of Director of Strategic Partnerships & Intergovernmental Affairs.

Lila Jaafar received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Affairs from Lebanese American University in 2001. Lila subsequently pursued a Master of Arts degree in the same field from the same university, completing it in 2003.
