We are seeking a Business Development Manager in Vancouver to support and partner with an assigned Regional Vice President (External Wholesaler). The successful candidate will work on a hybrid work schedule out of our Vancouver office. Responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with and providing ongoing support to the Regional Vice President to execute an annual territory business plan focused on the development and strengthening of long‐term relationships with investment advisors within a defined territory.

  • Working with the Regional Vice President to increase sales and market share of Pender’s funds through engagement with prospects and existing supporters.

  • Conducting proactive outreach through sales calls, emails, and booking meetings with investment advisors and positioning Pender’s funds using a consultative sales approach to identify and advance sales opportunities.

  • Updating and logging daily activities and maintaining accurate records within Salesforce.com on a timely basis.

  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of Pender’s funds and industry trends in the market, and related considerations for advisors and their investors.

  • Occasionally joining the Regional Vice President to represent Pender at branch visits, client seminars, branch presentations, road shows and conferences.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or related field.

  • 1+ years of previous experience in the financial services, investment or related industry.

  • Thorough knowledge of the securities industry and particularly of stock and bond markets and how they relate to mutual funds.

  • Ability to initiate and maintain client relationships. Superior customer service skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excellent interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Self-motivated; ability to be a great team player.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Keen attention to detail.

Additional strengths you may bring to the role:

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course or willingness to complete within one year.

  • Woking towards or completion of other industry certifications is considered an asset (i.e. IFIC, CFA, CFP, CIM, etc).

  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.

  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com a strong asset.

We are sharing that compensation for this role will include an estimated salary between $60,000 - $68,000 per year, along with a commission and bonus package*.* In determining final salary, Pender considers many factors including the candidate’s qualifications, relevant experience, job responsibilities, market conditions, position location and internal equity. Our aim is to ensure fair compensation practices that align with industry standards while acknowledging the unique value and expertise each individual brings to the role. The final base salary for the offer will be presented as part of a competitive compensation package.
