Susan Cho Hicks

Susan Cho Hicks has over 20 years of experience in laboratory operations. In 2021, they began working as the Vice President of Laboratory Operations at PetDx, a San Diego-based molecular diagnostics company. From 2019 to 2021, they were the Site Director at Labcorp. From 2016 to 2019, they were the Director of Laboratory Operations at Integrated Genetics. From 2011 to 2016, they held various roles at Sequenom, including Associate Director of Laboratory Operations, Senior Manager of Clinical Laboratory, Manager of Clinical Laboratory, and Clinical Laboratory Supervisor of Technical. From 2009 to 2011, they were a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at bioTheranostics, where they developed and validated new assays, wrote protocols for assays, validations, and in-house studies, and performed all aspects of daily bench work. From 2006 to 2009, they were a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Scripps Clinic Medical Laboratories, where they developed and implemented assay validations and wrote protocols for assays, validations, and in-house studies. From 2003 to 2006, they were a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Westcliff Medical Labs, where they established the department, developed and implemented assay validations, and wrote protocols for assays, validations, and in-house studies. From 2001 to 2003, they were a Technician of Molecular Genetics at Specialty Laboratories, where they performed esoteric assays by non-automated methods and employed techniques such as DNA extraction, quantitation and digestion, and DNA amplification by PCR and analysis by gel electrophoresis.

Susan Cho Hicks obtained their Bachelor of Science in Biology from Binghamton University in 1997. Susan then went on to earn their Master's degree in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations from UC San Diego in 2020. Additionally, they have obtained certifications as a Clinical Chemist Scientist, Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist, and Technologist in Molecular Biology from the State of California and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
