Sophie has overall responsibility for advising on internal and external communications, including marketing and brand.

She has worked with multinational energy organisations since 2004, driving global employee communications, change management and public relations strategies. Prior to being appointed to the Group Executive Committee in July 2022, she was Petrofac’s Head of Global Marketing.

Sophie Reid

Roberto is responsible for our Engineering & Construction business’s Commercial, Project Controls, Resourcing, Procurement, Systems Development, Quality and Proposals functions, and for Group Business Development.

He also continues to oversee the EPCm business which offers a range of EPC solutions to clients within flexible commercial frameworks.

Experience
Roberto joined [Petrofac](/org/petrofac) as Executive Vice President, Regional Operations for the UAE and North Africa and as CEO of our joint venture [Petrofac](/org/petrofac) Emirates. He has more than 25 years’ international oil and gas experience, primarily within the EPC and EPCm contracting environments and has held sales, operations, commercial, leadership and Board positions with Italian-owned Tecnimont, including as CEO of Tecnimont ICB in India and latterly as CEO of the Tecnimont group.

Roberto Bertocco

Jonathan Kennefick is [Petrofac](/org/petrofac)’s Chief Technical Officer and member of the Group Executive Committee. Jonathan joined in 2022 to heading the company’s technical functions, assuring technical excellence and service quality across [Petrofac](/org/petrofac)’s projects and operations, from engineering and supply chain, to execution and commissioning. Prior to this Jonathan had a 30-year career with McDermott, most recently as an SVP and Executive Committee member.

In his career he has been based in the UAE, USA, and in the UK. Jonathan is a UK citizen and has a degree in Physics and Astrophysics from the [University of London](/org/university-of-london), an MSC in Subsea Engineering and Underwater Technology from Cranfield University in the UK and an MBA from the [University of Houston](/org/university-of-houston) in USA.

Jonathan Kennefick

Key strengths
René has extensive and current international financial experience, with knowledge of balance sheet strengthening opportunities and financing arrangements.

He has well-established knowledge of governance and regulatory matters, and a good understanding of operational and strategic management.

Experience
René was finance director of Anglo American plc from September 2005 to April 2017 and retired from the company in January 2018, after over 12 years.

From June 2000 to May 2005 he was group finance director of The BOC Group plc.

Until June 2012, he was a non-executive director of SSE plc and until December 2017 he was a non-executive director of De Beers and Anglo Platinum Limited.

Rene Medori

Responsibility
With a background as a design engineer and strong project experience, Elie is responsible for [Petrofac](/org/petrofac) E&C operations in Oman, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

Experience
Elie joined [Petrofac](/org/petrofac) in 1997 and has held several key operations and engineering roles. From 2014 he led the delivery of the strategically significant BP Khazzan project in Oman and from 2016 was SVP and Sponsor for Oman operations. He has more than 20 years’ industry experience.

Elie Lahoud

Responsibility
Matthew has responsibility for the Legal, Compliance and Company Secretariat functions. A key part of this is ensuring that all colleagues have access to relevant, timely and commercially valuable legal advice, while ensuring that the Group’s business is conducted in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Experience
Matthew had more than 20 years’ experience, 13 of which are in General Counsel roles, both in the UK and the Middle East.

He began his legal career in private practice, working in London and Hong Kong before moving into the engineering and construction industry.


Matthew Barton

Responsibility
As Group Head of Business Development Paolo is responsible for managing [Petrofac](/org/petrofac)’s sales pipeline, identifying new opportunities for the business to pursue.  

Experience
Paolo’s experience spans almost 25 years in the international oil and gas industry across the upstream and downstream sectors. Having graduated in chemical engineering, Paolo’s early career followed a technical route prior to him moving into project and proposals management followed by senior management roles in both sales and commercial. Prior to joining [Petrofac](/org/petrofac) he held senior roles at Tecnimont.

Paolo Bonucci

Key strengths
David has extensive and current financial experience. He is a Chartered Accountant with a BA(Hons) in Economics from the [University of Liverpool](/org/university-of-liverpool) and an MBA from the Cass Business School. He has extensive capital and debt raising experience, as well as managing companies exposed to substantial and rapid change. He has served on the boards of listed companies in seven different countries.

Experience
David has over 35 years’ experience as a financial professional with a successful career as chief financial officer and deputy chairman of the executive board at OMV Aktiengesellschaft, as well as serving as group finance director for both Morgan Crucible Company plc and London International Group plc. Until it was acquired in May 2019 by Medco Energi Global PTE Ltd, he was also non-executive director of Ophir Energy Plc.

David Davies

As Chief Operating Officer - Asset Solutions, Nick has overall accountability for delivery against our business plan.

Prior to joining [Petrofac](/org/petrofac), Nick was President of Wood Group’s Capital Projects business in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. Nick has over 30 years’ experience in the energy sector, gained through senior business leadership, operations management and project delivery tenures globally.

Nick Shorten

Afonso joined Petrofac in 2012 as Group Head of Structured Finance and accumulated a portfolio of increasing responsibility including Group Treasurer, Head of Tax and Group Head of Enterprise Risk. He has a background in investment banking, having begun his career with Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, and has extensive experience in corporate and project finance.

Afonso Reis

Alison joined Petrofac in August 2011, and is responsible for the Group’s regulatory, governance and listing rule compliance framework. She is a Fellow of ICSA: The Chartered Governance Institute, with 24 years’ experience in a UK listed environment. She is Secretary to the Board and its Committees.

Prior to joining Petrofac, she spent eight years with Wolseley plc (now Ferguson plc) as Deputy Company Secretary. In 2002, she joined the company secretariat of Shell Exploration & Production Limited, part of the Royal Dutch Shell group, following the takeover of Enterprise Oil plc, where she started her company secretarial career in 1997.

Alison Broughton

As Group Director for HSSIA, Jim has overall accountability for health, safety, security and asset integrity.

Jim has almost 30 years’ of experience with [Schlumberger](/org/schlumberger), working in numerous countries and across several senior managerial positions in operations and functions.  Most recently he was the President of Production Management and prior to that spent three years as [Schlumberger](/org/schlumberger)’s Vice President of Health, Safety, Security and Environment. 

Jim Andrews

Responsibility
Mani leads Engineering & Production Services in the Eastern Hemisphere.
He has responsibility for service capability and the associated organisation across the East region, including Operations Services, Brownfield Engineering, Projects and Project Management Consultancy as well as the global delivery of Training Services and our Malaysian Engineering business RNZ.

Experience
Mani has been leading the Engineering and Operations service lines within the East region since the formation of EPS in January 2016.
Since he joined [Petrofac](/org/petrofac) in 2004, he has undertaken a range of senior commercial and operational roles and has worked extensively throughout the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

Mani Rajapathy

Responsibility
As Chief Operating Officer – E&C, George has overall accountability for delivery against our E&C business plan. 

Experience
George joined [Petrofac](/org/petrofac) in 1998 and has held a variety of positions within management and operations. He headed up some of the Company’s most prestigious projects – including the US$3.7 billion Upper Zakum UZ750 contract in the UAE. Most recently he was Group Chief Commercial Officer.

George Salibi

Key strengths
Sara has over 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, with a unique insight into the Middle Eastern environment. She has wide-ranging international experience and significant operational and project management capabilities.

Experience
Until the end of 2017, she was Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Energy KSC, which she founded in 2005 to exploit the opportunity for an independent Engineering and Production company in the MENA and Eurasia regions.

Previously, she was New Business Development Manager for Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, and served in various positions in the oil and gas industry in Kuwait and internationally from 1981 to 1999. 

Sara Akbar

Key strengths
Extensive background in various senior positions, specialising in corporate finance operations, strategy, audit and human resources. Holds a BA in Economics from La Sapienza University in Rome and speaks four languages.

Experience
Currently Head of HR and Organisation at ENEL Spa, leading a significant re-organisation of the Group with the aim of integrating ENEL’s largest subsidiary, as well as its wide Latin America portfolio, into a single group.

Covered a wide range of roles at the Telecom Italia Group, including Head of Investor Relations, Head of Financial Planning and Head of Corporate Development and Mergers & Acquisitions. Former Chairperson of Stream and Telespazio, as well as a former Director of Sky Italy.

Francesca Di Carlo

Key strengths
Matthias has over 35 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, and has extensive commercial and strategic capabilities.

He has a deep understanding of operational and project management as well as technology management.

Experience
Matthias stepped down from the executive committee of Royal Dutch Shell plc at the end of 2014. He held a number of roles over his 34-year career with Shell, including director of [Petroleum Development Oman](/org/petroleum-development-oman), MD of deepwater services in Houston, executive vice president global exploration and executive vice president technical of Shell Upstream. He ran Shell’s Project and Technology business from 2009.

Matthias Bichsel

Key strengths
Ayman has strong operational leadership skills and international focus. He has extensive business development skills, a wealth of oil and gas industry knowledge and a clear strategic vision. He also has an entrepreneurial track record.

Experience
Ayman joined the Group in 1991 to establish Petrofac International, of which he was CEO. In 2005, he led the successful initial public listing of the Company.

He has more than 37 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. He formerly worked as MD of a major civil and mechanical construction business in Oman.

Ayman Asfari

Responsibility
As Group Director of Human Resources, Des has overall responsibility for advising on all people aspects of the business. This includes developing a business-focused people strategy, including succession planning, talent management, leadership development, compensation, key hires, performance culture and employee engagement.

Experience
Des started his career as a graduate trainee with Ford Motor Company and spent 25 years in the automotive sector, including six years as HR Director for [Jaguar Land Rover](/org/jaguar-land-rover). He was also interim President of IMI China and Senior Vice President of [Seadrill](/org/seadrill), an offshore drilling contractor.

Des Thurlby

Responsibility
As Chief Operating Officer - EPS, John has overall accountability for delivery against our EPS business plan.

Experience
Prior to joining [Petrofac](/org/petrofac), John spent 28 years with AMEC Foster Wheeler and five years with [Chevron](/org/chevron-corporation), in the UK and the US. His previous roles have included president of global oil, gas and chemicals, and multi-market roles running the Americas, Northern Europe and CIS regions.
