What you will be doing (HR Manager): 

As the HR Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing  HR functions across the group which includes three business units.  You will have the ability to work independently with minimal support, ensuring the efficient implementation of HR policies, practices, and initiatives. Your role will encompass a broad range of HR activities, including employee relations, talent management, performance management, policy development, and compliance with employment law.

Responsibilities (HR Manager):

  • HR Operations:

    • Manage day-to-day HR operations, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
    • Collaborate with senior management to understand the organisation’s goals and objectives, translating these into HR priorities.
    • Monitor HR metrics and KPIs to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Employee Relations:

    • Act as a primary point of contact for employee queries and issues, providing robust guidance and support.
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations cases, including grievances, disciplinaries, and performance issues.
    • Promote a positive work environment and culture through effective communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Talent Management:

    • Supporting the Talent Acquisition Manager with the recruitment process, including creating and reviewing job descriptions, shortlisting and conducting interviews where appropriate.
    • Develop and implement talent management and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
    • Overseeing the onboarding processes, ensuring new hires are effectively integrated into the Company.
    • Identify skill gaps and develop training and development programs to address these needs.
  • Performance Management:

    • Manage the performance appraisal process, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
    • Develop and implement performance improvement plans for underperforming employees.
    • Facilitate regular performance reviews and ensure consistent and fair evaluation practices.
  • Compliance and Employment Law:

    • Ensure compliance with all UK employment laws and regulations, including GDPR, and equality and diversity legislation.
    • Keep abreast of legislative changes and advise the business accordingly.
    • Conduct regular audits of HR processes and policies to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Policy Development:

    • Develop, implement, and review HR policies and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and in line with best practices.
    • Provide training and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.
    • Ensure consistent application of HR policies across the organisation.
  • HR Projects:

    • Lead and participate in HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement surveys, and organisational change projects.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of HR projects.
  • Reporting:

    • Prepare and present HR metrics and reports to Managing Director and Board of Directors providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
    • Analyse HR data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HR information.
  • Any other duties within the post holder's competence as requested.

Skills/Experience/Qualifications (HR Manager): 

  • Qualifications: CIPD qualified (Level 5 or above).

  • Experience: Proven experience in a similar HR managerial role, preferably within a group or multi-site organisation.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attributes:

    • Proactive, self-sufficient, and able to work with minimal supervision.

    • Strong leadership and team management skills.

    • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
