Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a UX Researcher. This job reports to the Associate Director of UX Research in the Digital Products department of PPFA. The Planned Parenthood Digital Products team provides reliable and scalable applications and technology programs and services in support of health care delivery, sex education, advocacy, fundraising, and internal operations. Digital Products is part of the Global Strategy and Innovation (GSI) division at PPFA.

Purpose: 

The UX Researcher will conduct end-to-end user research projects to investigate our digital user’s knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and intentions to help the Digital Products team evolve our products in ways that better serve our users and to share learnings broadly across the organization. The UX Researcher will report to the Associate Director of User Research.

Delivery:   ●Identify the most effective research methodologies and write detailed research plans including clear goals, objectives, and questions to guide your research efforts while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to understand business goals, user needs, and project requirements while developing empathy for end-users.  ●Create and conduct user interviews, surveys, focus groups, and co-design sessions to gather qualitative data and gain valuable insights. ●Analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative research data sets into actionable insights and recommendations for Product and User Experience that directly influence product improvements and identify areas of opportunity that address the needs of the users while balancing the needs of the stakeholders.  ●Use specialized software such as Figma and Adobe to create custom deliverables (personas, timelines, service maps, empathy maps, user flows, wireframes, concept maps, competitive analysis, and charts) to help stakeholders understand and empathize with users.  ●Use Figma to build low to mid-fidelity, interactive prototypes for testing and validation, allowing stakeholders to experience the product firsthand. ●Present research insights to Product leads, UX leads, stakeholders, and executive sponsors in a clear and visually engaging manner, making the data more accessible and understandable by using a variety of specialized research tools such as Google Slides, Figjam, and other research repository software such as Dovetail.

Engagement: 

●Collaborator and contributor to the PPFA’s digital strategy, while supporting four unique Digital Products teams: PP.org, Patient Access, Affiliate Engagement, and Chat/Text. ●Strategic thought partner among interdisciplinary peers on scrum teams. ●Manage research-related workflows that can be deployed across Digital Products teams at scale.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): 

●3+ years of experience designing, conducting, and synthesizing mixed-method user research across a range of complex products and tools and user demographics ●Extensive experience with specialized research repository toolkits such as Dovetail and Google Sheets.  ●High proficiency in Google Jamboard, Google Forms, Looker, Figma, etc. ●Demonstrated knowledge of planning and executing complicated research for complex technology systems ●Experience with developing hypotheses for integrated A/B testing and interpreting the results of experiments from tests run in a production environment ●Proven track record of generating actionable insights for a product or program strategy ●Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate needs and prepare accordingly. ●Comfort with presenting in-progress work to stakeholders and executive sponsors early and frequently, demonstrating a willingness to seek continual feedback and constructive criticism in a supportive team-oriented environment. ●Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with a dynamic, fast-moving team, completing multiple tasks with poise, accuracy, and confidence. ●Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills ●Strong oral and written communication skills. ●Flexibility and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and ambiguous situations.  ●Ability to approach work from an empathetic,  trauma-informed perspective. ●Commitment to PPFA’s mission and diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly surrounding race equity. ●A deep commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission of promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health
