Engineering coach/mentor (volunteer) at Plato

Brendan Creane has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Brendan is currently working as a Senior Engineering Manager in Sensor Management at Corelight since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked as an Engineering Coach/Mentor (volunteer) at Plato starting from July 2021. From April 2022 to March 2023, Brendan was a Senior Manager in SW Engineering at Palo Alto Networks. Brendan also gained significant experience at Tigera, where they served as a Director of Engineering from August 2019 to March 2022 and as a Senior Software Engineering Manager from June 2017 to July 2019. At Tigera, they delivered rapid iterations of the company's open-source and enterprise product offerings. Brendan also worked at Riverbed Technology as a Software Engineering Manager from August 2013 to June 2017 and as a Member of Technical Staff from April 2007 to July 2013. At Riverbed, they led an agile team in developing a high-performance network services product and contributed to various network optimization technologies on different platforms. Brendan's earlier experiences include roles as a Senior Software Engineer at EMC Insignia from September 2005 to January 2007, a Fellow at Intel's Industry Initiatives for Science and Math Education program from June 2005 to August 2005, and a Curriculum and Technology Integration Specialist/Elementary School Teacher at San Francisco Unified School District, Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy from February 1997 to June 2005. Brendan also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Halestorm, Inc. from November 1995 to December 1996 and as a Software Engineer at Apple Computer, Inc. from September 1990 to October 1994, where they led a team responsible for delivering Macintosh A/UX toolbox functionality and implemented A/UX sound drivers for Apple's Macintosh computers.

Brendan Creane received their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from UC Santa Barbara, where they studied from 1983 to 1988. Later, in 1996, they obtained a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD, specializing in Mathematics and Information Technology, from San Francisco State University. Brendan further pursued their education and completed a Master of Arts degree in Instructional Technology, awarded by San Francisco State University, from 2002 to 2003. In terms of additional certifications, Brendan completed the Co-active Leadership Program from The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) in January 2002. Additionally, they obtained a Scrum Master certification in June 2015 from ScrumAlliance.
