CLOUD ENGINEER - Infrastructure

LOCATION: Remote - but occasional onsite support in DMV area may be required.

CLEARANCE LEVEL: None, but candidate needs to be clearable

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Cloud Engineer - Infrastructure is key to assisting the customer integrate and expand their cloud utilization in support of their mission.  You will recommend and design secure and optimized cloud solutions for a client needing to embrace cloud technology.  Your knowledge and experience will be used to build and enhance highly visible solutions for a government client.  You will be incorporated into a talented team with a track record of success and a variety of projects in flight.

  • Understand and leverage cloud automation tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform to provision and manage approved cloud baselines
  • Work with Infrastructure as Code managed in Git-based repositories and CI/CD tooling
  • Provision cloud accounts for new customers using cloud automation tools
  • Provide customer support for cloud application owners
  • Help cloud customers navigate the cloud governance process
  • Advise cloud customers on their cloud architectures to ensure they plan properly and are aware of agency-specific constraints
  • Help estimate cloud costs working with customers
  • Troubleshoot issues within the cloud layer
  • Help design, authorize and implement custom permissions
  • Work across unclassified, secret, and top secret cloud environments
  • Evaluate, document, and test new cloud services as they become available
  • Experience with designing, developing, deploying, or delivering using automation techniques or tools, including Ansible or Git
  • Knowledge of cloud and virtualization-based technologies, including Docker, Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware, or OpenShift
  • Experience with troubleshooting Linux, including RHEL, UNIX, networking, scripting and automation, systems administration functions, or application troubleshooting

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, or other scientific degree) with 5 to 8 years of directly related hands-on experience
  • Relevant cloud certification(s)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Primarily Azure Cloud experience
  • Strong organizational, time-management, analytical and troubleshooting skills are a must
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Experience with creating automation of deployment and/or configuration tasks with IaC tools including Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, or GitLab
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or GCP Certification
  • Knowledge of SQL Server database design, security, optimization, backup and recovery
  • Knowledge of SQL Server (Azure and On-Premises)
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services
  • Knowledge of SQL, TSQL, Stored Procedures, Indexes, Views, Materialized Views
  • Strong Demonstrated knowledge of Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with Azure Storage, Azure Data Lakes, Synapse, and HDInsight
