David Tijerina

David Tijerina is the Head of Product & Engineering at Polly. David previously served as the Sr. Director of Engineering at Apptio from January 2011 to January 2019. At Apptio, David was responsible for leading the company's machine learning and data-driven product efforts. David also founded Apptio's data science and machine learning initiatives.

Under David's leadership, Apptio's data science team and business grew significantly. David helped Apptio become a public company in 2016. Leveraging machine learning, David and their team delivered various Enterprise SaaS products, including IT Benchmarking (which allows customers to compare their IT costs to relevant peer groups) and DataLink (which allows customers to load data into Apptio in a scheduled and automated manner).

David is also responsible for introducing cloud first principles for Apptio, including Operational Excellence. David architected Benchmarking and DataLink as Apptio's first multi-tenant services. Additionally, they created Service Ownership and DevOps practices for Apptio Engineering, implemented the first DevOps team/service at Apptio, and created a framework for running Root Cause Analysis and Cause of Errors for service interruptions and outages.

David has also created Apptio's SOA test framework for service testing/interoperability, as well as On-call training and best practices for Apptio Engineering. David has a patent pending for Infrastructure Benchmarking Based On Dynamic Cost Modeling.

David Tijerina has a certification from Coursera in Machine Learning Course from Stanford University - online. David also has a certification from deeplearning.ai in Neural Networks and Deep Learning. Lastly, they have a certification from Echelon Front in Intensive Leadership Course - Muster004.
