Barbara Fekete Vidal, M. Eng.

Barbara Fekete Vidal, M. Eng. has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Starting in 2006, they completed an engineering internship at Águas do Algarve, SA. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as a Research Assistant at the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciencia, where they provided technical support, managed imaging processes, facilitated courses, and maintained equipment. Barbara then served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Queen's University - Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine from 2010 to 2016. In this role, they led a project on the effect of biomechanical and biochemical regulators on protein expression and contributed to a gene therapy study in hemophilia. From 2017 to 2020, they worked at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative as a Program Associate, contributing to various programs. Currently, since 2020, they hold the position of Head of Science Operations at Poppy, a company aiming to monitor and detect pathogens in various spaces.

Barbara Fekete Vidal, M. Eng. studied at the Universidade do Algarve, completing their Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Biological Engineering from 1998 to 2004. Barbara then pursued further education at the same institution, earning their Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Biological Engineering from 2004 to 2006.
