John Knickerbocker has a diverse work experience spanning several fields and organizations. John started their career as a Co-Owner of the Knickerbockers Horticultural Sale Group from 1984 to 1991. John then worked as an Account Rep at Vischer Colby Sales from 1991 to 2006. Additionally, they served as a member of the Swartz Creek Community Schools Board of Education from 1990 to 2011. From 2009 to 2011, John worked as a Development Director at Carriage Town Ministries.

In 2012, they joined Sagelink Credit Union as a Branch Manager, where they served until 2015. In the same year, they became a Community Engagement Coordinator at PFCU.

John's commitment to community involvement is reflected in their roles as the Second Vice Commander at Sons of American Legion Post #294 from 2013 to 2018 and the Entertainment Tent Director at Swartz Creek Hometown Days from 2009 to 2017.

From 2015 to 2018, they held the position of President at the Swartz Creek Chamber of Commerce, followed by their term as President of the Swartz Creek Kiwanis Club from 2016 to 2017. In this role, John has demonstrated a dedication to serving the youth of the Swartz Creek area by raising funds, mentoring, and counseling.

John Knickerbocker attended Swartz Creek High School from 1975 to 1979, where they pursued a college preparatory curriculum. After completing high school, they enrolled at Central Michigan University from 1979 to 1983. At CMU, they pursued a degree in Finance and Economics and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
