Overview
Positive Action is recruiting for a DevOps Engineer with a multidisciplinary background to support ongoing operations in support of a long-term Federal contract. For legal compliance and capital planning purposes, management retains a cloud bursting methodology. Qualified candidates should be well-versed in public cloud architecture but also have experience managing colocation space, datacenter-to-datacenter networking and blade architecture.
Positive Action employs a global workforce that spans three continents and three domestic time zones. To effectively collaborate, this position requires a shift that starts at 7:00 am ET, Monday through Friday.
This position reports directly to the CEO.
Travel
Both domestic and international travel will be required for team meetups, colocation space management, and consulting with international partners. The amount of travel will vary year-to-year but is expected to be extensive in 2024.
Responsibilities
• Design and initialize CI/CD pipelines and environments for various assets.
• Administer on-prem highly available Kubernetes clusters for microservice application deployments.
• Coordinate with dev teams on conceptualization and architecture for various assets.
• Identify, recruit, and manage skilled infrastructure specialists on contract, when the need arises.
• Manage environments and infrastructure via GitOps practices.
• Monitor system architecture metric and alerts.
• Develop load tests and implement real user monitoring for websites.
• Perform routine security audits on critical infrastructure.
• Plan and deploy new infrastructure in relevant geographical regions.
• Fully manage the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux servers.
• Manage the company’s public DNS and security certs.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Commission and monitor pen testing efforts.
• Provide expertise to SysAdmins on internal, operational needs.

Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience
At least three years of experience deploying containerized applications via orchestration.
Work Settings
The Company offers flexible work settings. This position is available as remote or hybrid with a physical presence in Madison, Wisconsin. Relocation assistance is available.
