Carmel Melouney began their work experience in 2006 as a Journalist at Fairfax Media, where they worked alongside a team to produce a weekly newspaper. Carmel then worked as a Journalist at The Sunday Telegraph, News Corporation from 2007 to 2010. Following that, they joined The Daily, News Corporation's national daily iPad news app, as a Reporter/Producer. In 2012, Carmel joined The Wall Street Journal as a Reporter, where they contributed to the Greater New York section and the Metropolis blog. Carmel then worked as the Head of Editorial at SCHWARTZWILLIAMS from 2014 to 2016. Carmel also gained experience as a News Editor at LinkedIn from 2018 to 2019. Carmel then served as a Senior Media Adviser at I work for NSW from 2019 to 2020 before becoming an Associate Director of Media at NSW Department of Education in 2020. Currently, Carmel works as the Director of Communications at Powerhouse, starting in April 2023.
Carmel Melouney earned a Master of Creative Writing degree from the University of Sydney in 2017. Prior to that, they completed a BA Media & Communications (First Class Honours) degree at the University of Melbourne from 2001 to 2005, with a focus on Journalism and Film.
