Sara Cunningham, MEd, NBC-HWC has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. In 2007, they started as a Personal Trainer, Health and Wellness Coach, and Program Coordinator for acac Fitness & Wellness Center, where they worked until 2018. From 2017 to 2020, they were a Wellness Advocate and CDC Trained Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program at UVA Health. In 2021, they founded Sara Cunningham Coaching as an Owner, Health & Wellness Coach, and Exercise Physiologist. Sara joined Terra Health Coaching in 2022 as a Lifestyle Medicine Health Coach before later moving on to become Coaching Coordinator at ELCA Virginia Synod. Presently, they are working as a Grants Coordinator for Virginia Diabetes Council.
Sara Cunningham, MEd, NBC-HWC holds a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Sports Medicine from Guilford College. Sara has also obtained several certifications, including Certified Health and Well-being Coach from Wellcoaches Corporation in 2009, Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM EP-C) from the American College of Sports Medicine in 2005, Lifestyle Coach for the National Diabetes Prevention Program from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2017, Lifestyle Medicine Coach Certified from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine in 2020, and National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach from the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching, which they are expected to obtain in December 2022.
