John Sebastian

John Sebastian has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. John began their career as a Student Reserve Officer at Iowa State University in 1991, before transitioning to the role of Transportation Engineer Intern at the Iowa Department of Transportation in 1993. John held this position for nearly twenty years, until 2012.

In 2002, John joined the City of Ames as a Fire Lieutenant and served in this role until 2014. During this time, they also worked as an Engineer IV at Iowa State University from 2012 to 2014.

From 2014 to 2016, John worked as a Transportation Engineer at the Iowa Department of Transportation before transitioning to the role of Plan Review Engineer at the Iowa State Fire Marshal Division from 2016 to 2018.

In 2018, John joined the Denver Fire Department as a Fire Protection Engineer and held this position until 2022.

John then worked as an Infinite Command - Regional Account Manager at Progressive Intelligence Technologies from 2022 until 2023, when they joined Evergreen Fire/Rescue as a Fire Inspector.

Throughout their career, John has gained experience in fire protection, transportation engineering, plan review, and record management software for fire departments.

John Sebastian obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Iowa State University, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. After a brief period, they pursued further education in the field of Fire Science at Des Moines Area Community College, earning a Fire Specialist Certificate from 2001 to 2002.
