Lauren Howerton has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Lauren started their career as a Project Team Lead at The Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development, where they led a team and conducted research on agriculture extension. Lauren then worked as a Program Assistant for the Center for Nonprofit Excellence at the Community Foundation for Monterey County, where they developed and maintained a web-based platform and supported coordination and communication for the LEAD Institute.

Lauren later joined Measure To Improve, LLC as a Sustainable Event Planner, where they hosted meetings, researched regulations, prepared proposals, and acted as a primary point of contact for the Ventura County Sustainability Exchange. Lauren also served as a Corporate Engagement Intern at The Good Food Institute.

In 2019, Lauren worked as a Programs Team Fellow at Unreasonable, where they supported the planning and logistics management for accelerator programs. Lauren then joined HHB Systems as a Proposal Coordinator and Lead Recruiter, focusing on talent acquisition and project management for federal government contracts.

From 2020 to 2022, Lauren worked at The Farmlink Project, holding multiple roles such as Procurement Team Project Manager, People Operations and Social Justice Collective Advocate, and Data Architecture Project Manager. In these roles, they led teams, managed projects, built connections with farmers, and contributed to the reduction of food waste.

Lauren's most recent position is with Prominent Edge, where they serve as a Project Coordinator and Senior Recruiter. Lauren is responsible for sourcing and screening qualified candidates for software development projects and manages small to medium-sized projects, including proposal development and delivery.

Lauren Howerton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of South Carolina between the years 2009 and 2013. Lauren then attended the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey from 2017 to 2019, where they obtained a Master of Arts degree in International Environmental Policy. In 2012, they briefly studied at the University of Newcastle, although no degree or field of study were specified. Additionally, they received certifications in Social Enterprise Management and Impact Investing, as well as Design, Partnering, Management, and Innovation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in January 2019 and June 2018, respectively.
