PERC
Sophie Gilbert is an accomplished Senior Researcher at PERC since October 2025, focusing on innovative solutions for wildlife, water, land, and people. Currently, Sophie serves as a member of the Working Group on Biodiversity Crediting for the World Economic Forum and as a working group member for the Biodiversity Credit Alliance. Involvement with IUCN includes contributions to the Commission on Ecosystem Management. Previously, Sophie held key positions at Vibrant Planet as Director of Science Strategy and Partnerships, and at NCX as Senior Lead for Natural Capital Development, driving R&D and developing biodiversity co-benefits tools. Academic roles include Affiliate Professor and prior positions at the University of Idaho, with a successful track record in securing funding and advancing research on social-ecological systems and wildlife conservation. Sophie's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UCLA.
