James Houston

Software Testing, Technical Documentation, UI/UX Software Design at Protein Metrics

James Houston's work experience begins in 1984 when they worked as a High School Science Teacher for the Oakland Unified School District. From 1991 to 1999, they were a Test Engineer/DB Manager at Elsevier MDL, where they performed testing and automated test suites. At Symyx Technologies from 1999 to 2010, they started as an Advisory Test Engineer and then specialized in new product design and QA development. James also managed an outsourced QA group. At Symyx Technologies, Inc. from 2009 to 2010, they worked as a UI and Usability Designer. From 2010 to 2011 at Accelrys, Inc., they served as a Test Lead, managing two outsourcing QA groups. James was a Senior Software QA Engineer and Software QA Contractor at Freeslate Inc. from 2011 to 2014. At ThinkTank Learning, Inc., they worked as a Teacher/Tutor from 2014 to 2016. Lastly, from 2016 to 2019, James was a Chemistry and Physics Teacher at Fremont Unified School District. Currently, they are working at Protein Metrics Inc. in a role that involves Software Testing, Technical Documentation, and UI/UX Software Design.

James Houston attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1977 to 1981. During their time there, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
