Jim Ballance began their work experience as a Manufacturing Intern at Custom Alloy Corporation in 2015. Jim then worked as a Research Assistant at Rutgers University from February 2016 to May 2017. In 2017, they joined Rockwell Automation, first as an Application Engineer from August 2017 to July 2018, and then as a Commercial Engineer from August 2018 to July 2021. Following this, they worked as a Mechatronics Engineer at VulcanForms Inc. from August 2021 to February 2023. Currently, Jim is employed as a System Engineer at Pure Lithium Corporation, starting in February 2023.

Jim Ballance earned their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University, where they studied from 2015 to 2017. Prior to attending Rutgers, they attended Raritan Valley Community College from 2013 to 2015, where they focused on Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics. In addition to their formal education, Jim has obtained several certifications, including "Additive Manufacturing for Innovative Design and Production" from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in May 2022, "Developing Industrial Internet of Things Specialization" from Coursera in April 2019, and "Sensors and Sensor Circuit Design" from Coursera in February 2019.
