Afiya Augustine

Afiya Augustine is the current Growth Operations Manager at Pursuit. Prior to this, they were the Director of Admissions at Per Scholas from February 2017 to January 2022. Afiya was promoted to this position from Admissions Associate to Senior Manager then Director within three years due to their stellar leadership, strategic planning, and goal-based organization.

As Director of Admissions, Afiya managed a team of 5+ Admissions and Recruitment Associates who rigorously recruited and screened over 1000+ applicants to enroll over 600 Learners into various IT-based programs across remote and in-person campuses. Afiya was key in restructuring local and nationwide admissions processes to increase enrollments and shorten the admissions process for applicants. Afiya also streamlined recruitment communications and engagement procedures to increase recruitment turnaround times by 50 percent.

In response to the pandemic in 2020, Afiya strategized a transition from in-person recruitment to remote recruitment for the New York campus which resulted in 107% of the 2020 enrollment KPIs being met. The onboarding tools they engineered and implemented for admissions staff and incoming students have been replicated nationally.

Afiya has also facilitated partnerships with community partners/organizers (including NADAP, Goodwill) to create pipelines for recruitment and enrollment with frequent updates and check-ins. Lastly, they collaborate cross-departments to ensure student progression and overall quality of student affairs.

Afiya Augustine has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Brooklyn College and a Diploma in Bio-Chemistry from Brooklyn Technical High School. Afiya also has certification from LinkedIn in Writing a Press Release.
