Abbas Ahmed

Abbas Ahmed has over 17 years of work experience in various roles and companies. Abbas is currently the Chief Information Security Officer at Qenta Inc., a position they have held since October 2020. Prior to that, they were a Solution Architect at the same company starting from December 2018. Before joining Qenta Inc., Abbas worked as a Principal Database Engineer at BookingGo from April 2016 to June 2018. Abbas also served as a Database Architect and Team Lead - Production Information Systems at Rentalcars.com, where they managed a team of DBA's, SysAdmins, Network Engineers, and Capacity Analysts. Additionally, Abbas worked as a DBA/Sys Admin at Rentalcars.com, handling MySQL infrastructure upgrades. Abbas began their career as a Unix Systems Engineer at Gamma Telecom, specializing in the backend systems and database management. Prior to that, they held several network engineering and administration roles at Naseeb Online Services (Pvt) Ltd - ROZEE.PK. Abbas also worked as an Instructor for RedHat Learning Services at Techno-Ed (Pvt) Ltd and APTECH Worldwide. Overall, Abbas's work experience spans security, architecture, engineering, administration, and instruction roles in the IT industry.

Abbas Ahmed completed their B.Sc degree in Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics from Forman Christian College in Lahore from 1994 to 1997. Abbas then pursued a Master of Science in Information Technology Administration and Management (MSIT) from Preston University, where they studied from 1997 to 2003.

Apart from their formal education, Abbas also obtained several certifications in various fields. In 2015, they received certificates for completing the "Data Scientist's Toolbox" and "R Programming" courses from Coursera Verified Certificates. Abbas also obtained the PRINCE2 Foundation certification from APMG-International in August 2015.

Additionally, Abbas completed two MongoDB courses: "MongoDB for DBAs" in November 2013 and "MongoDB for Python Developers" in March 2013. Abbas also received the "MySQL 5.7 Administration" certification from Brainbench in June 2020. Furthermore, they obtained AWS certifications, including the "AWS Cloud Practitioner" in October 2017 and the "AWS Solutions Architect - Associate" in May 2018.
