Mike Wash

Trustee at Quaker Mental Health Fund

Mike Wash trained in York as a psychiatric nurse and nurse tutor. He was also a trainer in counselling skills and later joined British Telecom to help them change their culture due to modernisation. Mike then became a self-employed business and organisation development consultant and worked for many Health Boards and Hospitals – during this time he was also the Director for Organisational Development at Leeds University Hospitals Trust. He also authored several books related to business excellence, self-help psychology and psychiatric nursing.

For most of Mike's working life, he has been striving to create a healing working environment for service users and staff – making spirituality discussable at work. Since working for The Retreat, as Trustee Director, and as Mental Health Act Associate manager, he has been inspired by the Quaker faith and now believe for him, it is a spiritual home.
