Michael Walker has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Michael is currently working as a Software Engineer at Quantum Brilliance since February 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Project Officer (Mathematical Modeller) at The Kirby Institute, UNSW Australia from February 2018 to February 2021.

Before that, Michael held the position of Research Officer at La Trobe Institute of Molecular Sciences from September 2016 to February 2021. Michael'sresponsibilities included incorporating machine learning methods into the calculational chemistry package 'BioPPsy' and simulating apoptosis-regulating protein networks for anti-cancer drug development.

From April 2008 to March 2014, Michael owned Schrocat Academic Projects and provided freelance analysis and coding services for research projects. Michael also conducted science presentations on evolution for high-school students.

During their career, they also served as a Visiting Scientist at La Trobe University from November 2012 to January 2013, an Expert Engineer at INRIA Project Team "Virtual Plants" from 2009 to 2012, and a Contract Programmer at Australian National University in March 2008.

Furthermore, Michael has experience as a Departmental Visitor at Nihon University from May 2007 to November 2007, a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow at Chiba University from May 2005 to April 2007, and a Full-time Lecturer at Kyung Hee University from March 2003 to February 2005. During their time at Kyung Hee University, they lectured in physics and mathematics and conducted a course in English presentation.

Michael Walker has an extensive education history. Michael began their academic journey in 1987 at Xavier College, where they obtained a Victorian Certificate of Education with a focus on Maths/Physics. Following this, from 1991 to 1994, they pursued a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Mathematics and Physics at Monash University. In 1995, they furthered their education by undertaking a Master of Advanced Studies in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. Concurrently, they attended The Australian National University, where they completed a Ph.D. in Physics from 1995 to 1999. Lastly, they pursued a Master's degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Melbourne, which they completed from 2013 to 2016.
