Sile Tao, PhD

Lead Research Scientist at Quartic.ai

Sile Tao, PhD has worked in a variety of roles since 2014. In that year, they began working as a Research Assistant and Statistical Consultant at the University of Alberta, where they provided statistical consultation and analysis to the research community. During their time there, they consulted on over 80 cases across diverse fields, covering topics in statistics and machine learning.

In 2018, Sile Tao began working as a Data Scientist at Quartic.ai. During their time there, they built the Quartic anomaly detection platform and conducted end-to-end machine learning consulting. Sile also slashed the computational costs by 99% by designing a highly non-trivial tuning-free anomaly detection procedure involving density estimation, asymptotic statistics and Fourier transform.

In 2020, Sile Tao began working as a Manager, Model Validation at Scotiabank. In this role, they assessed model risk for financial models and automated model validation process. Sile also conducted a comprehensive validation for a cash flow model with 30+ products, replicating models over a dataset that contained 8 GB data, 2000 columns, and inconsistent formats.

Currently, Sile Tao is working as a Research Scientist at Quartic.ai.

Sile Tao, PhD obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Statistics from the University of Alberta in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained their Master of Science (M.S.) in Statistics from the University of Alberta in 2014. Sile completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) with Double Honours in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Saskatchewan in 2012.
