Lance Bamford PhD SMIEEE

Director of New Technology (USA) at Quintel Technology

Lance Bamford PhD SMIEEE has an extensive work experience in the antenna industry. Lance began their career in 1989 as a Student Engineer at QinetiQ, where they gained experience in antenna evaluation techniques, high frequency amplifier testing, noise suppression techniques, analogue design and digital design. From 1992 to 1996, they worked as a Research Officer at Cranfield University, where they conducted research and development into phased array antenna technology and achieved a PhD qualification. In 1996, they returned to QinetiQ as a Senior Scientific Officer, where they conducted research and development into phased array antenna technology. In 1998, they moved to Racal Antennas Limited as Head of New Product Design, where they managed a team investigating future base station antenna product designs and introduced new design simulation techniques into the development department. In 2000, they joined Thales Antennas Limited as Technical Manager, where they technically led, managed and developed a technical team with responsibility for designing complex base station antennas. In 2003, they moved to CSA Wireless Limited as Principal Engineer, where they technically led and managed a small technical team designing base station antenna products for major customers in the UK and USA. In 2004, they joined Jaybeam Wireless Limited as VP of Engineering, where they were responsible for leading an engineering and pre-production department who designed and transferred into volume manufacture base station antennas for the telecommunications market. In 2006, they moved to Quintel as Director of New Technology (USA) and New Technology Director (UK), where they were technically responsible for new technology development in the engineering department and led the antenna section of the company. Finally, in 2016, they joined JMA Wireless as Vice President of Antenna Products.

Lance Bamford PhD SMIEEE has a strong educational background. Lance earned a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Coventry University between 1987 and 1991. Lance then earned a BTEC Ordinary National Diploma in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Matthew Boulton College between 1985 and 1987. Finally, they achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Cranfield University between 1990 and 1996, with a thesis title of "An Investigation into Mutual Coupling and Conformality in Phased Array Antennas".
