VP Of Infrastructure Engineering at Railz

Fernando Espinosa has extensive work experience in various roles related to cloud consulting, infrastructure engineering, and solutions architecture. Starting in 2015, they worked as a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer and later as a Senior DevOps Engineer at Armstrong Fluid Technology, where they led the implementation of security and access management solutions. In 2016, Fernando joined Finastra as a Lead Azure Developer, focusing on commercial product development. Fernando then transitioned to roles in Azure and AWS solutions architecture at Lendified and LoyaltyOne, respectively.

In 2018, Fernando worked as a Staff Engineer at Xello before joining Polymath as an AWS Solutions Architect, where they worked on dApps platforms on the Ethereum blockchain and managed the entire AWS Organization. Fernando later joined FIS as the Lead North America DevOps Engineer for FIS Ambit Risk and Compliance.

From 2019 to 2021, Fernando's work experience included roles as an Azure Architect at PureFacts Financial Solutions and an AWS Solutions Architect at Railz, where they served as the VP of Infrastructure Engineering. In these roles, they oversaw the design and implementation of massively scaled distributed systems, utilizing Kubernetes, Terraform, and various data engineering technologies. Fernando also focused on infrastructure-as-code, DevOps best practices, and platform observability.

Most recently, Fernando worked as a Cloud Consultant, specializing in AWS and Kubernetes, at RBC and Railz. Throughout their career, they have acquired expertise in a wide range of technologies and tools, including but not limited to AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, SQL, NoSQL, and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.

Fernando Espinosa studied at the University of Toronto from 1999 to 2004, where they obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. Fernando also holds several certifications, including CKAD: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer from The Linux Foundation obtained in July 2021, HashiCorp Certified Cloud Engineer: Terraform from HashiCorp obtained in March 2021, AWS Certified Solutions Architect from Amazon Web Services obtained in July 2019, Sun Certified Java Programmer from Sun Microsystems obtained in 2007, and CSIA Level 3 Ski Instructor from the Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance obtained in March 2018.
