Carlos Vanegas

Carlos Vanegas has an extensive work experience in software engineering. Carlos began their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Universidad EAFIT, CAD/CAM/CAE Laboratory in 2004, followed by a Visiting Research Assistant at Universidad de Vigo, GED Group in 2006. In 2007, they became a Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Purdue University. In 2010, they were an Intern Software Engineer at Procedural Inc. and a Visiting Graduate Research Assistant at ETH Zurich. In 2012, Carlos co-founded and became the Chief Technology Officer of Synthicity, a Berkeley-based startup. In 2015, they were hired by Autodesk as a Senior Software Architect and Senior Architect of the Forge Data Platform. In 2019, Carlos joined Bright Machines as Senior Director of Software Engineering, where they led and built from the ground up some of the software engineering teams. In 2022, they began their current role as Director of Software Engineering at Rapid Robotics, Inc.

Carlos Vanegas obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematical Engineering from Universidad EAFIT between 2002 and 2007. Carlos then went on to pursue a PhD in Computer Science from Purdue University, which they completed in 2012. In 2015, they completed an Autodesk Technical Bootcamp from Hack Reactor. Most recently, in 2018, they completed a Professional Education Course in Principles and Models for System Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
