Asami Honda has extensive work experience in the field of scientific research and development. Asami has worked as a Scientist II at RAPT Therapeutics since 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Scientist at JN Biosciences from 2021 to 2023.
Before joining JN Biosciences, Asami was a Doctoral Candidate at UC San Diego from 2013 to 2020. During this time, they investigated transcriptomic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying the maturation of immune cells in the developing lung. Asami also established a novel in vivo model of neonatal and adult lung injury and inflammation. Additionally, Asami served as a Teaching Assistant for the course "Recombinant DNA Techniques" at UC San Diego in 2017, where they led laboratory classes and provided guidance to students in various molecular biology techniques.
Prior to their doctoral studies, Asami worked as a Research Assistant at JN Biosciences from 2010 to 2013. In this role, they developed antibodies against TNFR family members with potent anti-cancer activities and assisted in the humanization of multiple antibodies.
Asami began their research career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of California, Davis from 2008 to 2010. Here, they designed synthetic RNAs to regulate gene expression in E. Coli. Asami also gained industry experience as a Process Engineering Intern at Genentech in 2008, where they worked on designing and optimizing delivery methods for chemicals used in large-scale purification of pharmaceutical proteins.
Overall, Asami Honda has a strong background in scientific research, with expertise in molecular biology, immunology, and process engineering for pharmaceutical development.
Asami Honda completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, from 2005 to 2010. Asami then pursued further education and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biomedical Sciences from UC San Diego, from 2013 to 2020.
