Hugo Villanúa Vega has a diverse range of work experience. Hugo is currently working as an Engineering Lead at Rapyuta Robotics since 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Cross Compass, Ltd. from 2018 to 2021, holding multiple roles including Engineering Department Manager, Group Lead, and Deep Learning R&D. At Cross Compass, they focused on improving processes, fostering collaboration between departments, and reorganizing product development to be client-centric. Hugo also managed consulting and product teams, defined product roadmaps, and optimized operations through office automation.
Before their time at Cross Compass, Hugo worked as a Data Analyst at HI Iberia Ingeniería y Proyectos from 2016 to 2018. Hugo was responsible for defining and developing KPIs for data projects in Latin America. Hugo utilized the Hadoop ecosystem, Hive, Oozie, Tableau, and Python for ETL, data processing, and visualization.
In 2015, Hugo co-founded a start-up called Flyster, where they focused on developing a travel destination recommendation platform based on user preferences. Hugo also worked at Indra as a Development Engineer from 2014 to 2015, where they developed automated reports for toll systems and performed unit testing.
Hugo's earliest work experience was as an Embedded Software Engineer at Hanscan Spain S.A. from 2012 to 2014. In this role, they developed biometric payment and access control applications, designed and implemented protocols for communication with biometric USB devices, and worked on multiplatform implementations.
Hugo Villanúa Vega's education history includes a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, which they completed from 2007 to 2012. In 2015 and 2016, they pursued a Data Analyst Nanodegree from Udacity. In 2017, Hugo completed the Deep Learning Nanodegree Foundation and the Self-Driving Car Nanodegree, both in the field of Computer Science, also from Udacity. In 2020 and 2021, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Quantic School of Business and Technology. Hugo is currently enrolled in a Data Engineering Nanodegree program at Udacity, which they started in 2022 and is expected to complete in 2023.
