Stepan Shabalin

Stepan Shabalin is a scholar at ML Alignment & Theory Scholars since June 2024, focusing on sparse autoencoders under the mentorship of Neel Nanda. Since January 2023, Stepan has served as an external collaborator at MedARC, contributing to AI for fMRI analysis and coauthoring the paper "Reconstructing the Mind's Eye: fMRI-to-Image with Contrastive Learning and Diffusion Priors." As a research intern at Deepfloyd since August 2022, Stepan is also involved with Reality Hack, Inc. as a software developer for its event website since May 2021. In August 2021, Stepan completed a research internship at Sberbank, investigating recommendation systems. Stepan is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at Georgia Institute of Technology from August 2023 to May 2027, following high school graduation from School 4 of Cousteau in June 2023.
